Like every other contractor, we generate a ton of paper with every job we do. Our Document Management solution from EDI gives us the ability to find every critical piece of information (e.g. contracts, specs, estimates, CAD drawings, change orders, invoices POs, correspondence…just to name a few) pertaining to any job. Everything job-related goes into the system. No more going from one end of the building to the other to find a contract, hoping it was filed correctly. We no longer have to make several copies of a job file in order to share information with employees. Our different departments simply log onto the system and access the sections of any job file they may need. The system organizes everything pertaining to a job and gives instant access to documents that, in the past, sent us on a paper chase.
We asked EDI for the ability to pull up jobs by job name; job number, job section and job type, and they customized their software to fit those needs. Access to the files over our network is controlled with log on security so we can limit viewing of documents once they are scanned in. The system gives La Corte Companies a complete disaster recovery back up of everything we put into it and has become a critical tool in the way we do business.
